Beaming with Pride

I am sure that many of you know that I spent a good bit of my early 20s racing mountain bikes. I loved it and everything that it gave me, travel and good friends. Well now in my 30s I am pulling 2 kids in a bike trailer to the playground. That being said today was probably one of my proudest moments with Madison. Old friends who own a bike shop in town put on their 2nd annual Bakers Dozen 13 hour mountain bike race today. It is a hugely successful event and the guys do a fantastic job with it. This year they also did a kids race, which both Madison and Brendan decided to enter. It was a 1/3 mile course through the woods with some nice smooth single track. I was not sure how this was going to go, but knowing that I could push the kids I was willing to give it a try. I was even less sure how I was going to push both kids at the same time.

Well, much to my surprise Madison needed very little pushing and was absolutely awesome! I just glowed with pride. She totally rocked the single track and never quit, she even bombed the little hill. When she got stuck she just need a little push and off she went again. I pushed B the whole way as I did not want to get to far behind Madison. The kids both got T shirts for finishing the race and some ice cream too. The even wanted to go do one more lap after the race was finished.

Here's the thing. I know we all think our kids are great at everything they do. But Madison was really good at this! I mean honest, as cute as she was in her ballet gear she was no natural, now not to say she wont prove me wrong and be a ballerina one day, but she was a really good mountain biker and really seemed to have fun doing it. On a side note, she was also the first girl to cross the line in the 1-8 year old group, but it was just for fun right!

Thanks for letting me brag.

Hugs
